Hello Baseball Families!!!  We hope that this message finds you and your family well as you prepare for the holidays with your families and friends.

Soon, we will be hearing the sounds of baseball, as our fields fill with young boys and girls striving to continue the success that Southern Lehigh Youth Baseball has experienced in the past several seasons!!!  We are excited for the spring season and are working furiously behind the scenes to improve our fields and the park complex to provide the best opportunities for each of our young players.  Spring registration is right around the corner!!!

We are very excited to announce the building of a 4,800 square foot pole building to expand upon our facilities.  The building will begin as a pavilion but it is our hope to one day enclose it to have our very own indoor facility. The pavilion will be located in the northeast corner of our main parking lot between our Seniors Field & Coach Pitch Field 3 at Living Memorial Park.  The purpose of this major capital improvement project is to meet the high demand for practice space for our youth Baseball and Softball programs as well as the community.  The building will be 60 feet wide by 80 feet long with ceilings that are 16 feet high.  The facility will house five batting tunnels that are 14 feet wide and 55 feet long.  The tunnel nets will be suspended with a retractable cabling system that will enable us to have an undercover multipurpose space for fielding, pitching, baserunning and other practice needs.  The floor of the facility will be poured with concrete and lined with field turf and we also plan to install LED lighting enabling nighttime practices at the facility.

We would not have been able to make the improvements that we have made without the generous support of our sponsors and donors.  In the last five years, these contributions have enabled us to re-sod our Majors and Seniors fields, paint our buildings, purchase two new 16’ x 5’ scoreboards with electronic team names, purchase two portable scoreboards, purchase three new pitching machines, and purchase our ABI Force field grooming machine.  In order to complete this new project, we will continue to need your help. In the next week or so, we will begin a capital fundraising campaign to help fund the pavilion project.  If you or someone you know are interested in contributing to the project, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us.  Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated!  Our fundraising coordinators Joe Grady and Maryellen Driscoll will be leading our fundraising effort.  Please reach out to either of them by email at joseph.grady@foxroach.com or maryellen.watson.driscoll@gmail.com.

Currently we are in the permitting process with the Borough of Coopersburg and expect to break ground in late February.  We are hopeful to have the facility ready for use by late spring and will continue to provide updates through email and on our facebook page as the project progresses.  We are also planning a formal groundbreaking ceremony as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this exciting improvement to our baseball complex.  Please follow along and let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to help in any way.  Thank you.

Sincerely Yours in Baseball,

Mike Fritts
